“BoulderShares” was the name first given to loosely organized events and missions whereby soft goods were procured from local Boulder-area companies, shipped via American Airlines® and distributed to less fortunate communities in the Caribbean basin and Central America.
Several events and missions were organized in Haiti from 2007 to present in partnership with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) including: Airline Ambassadors International, The Carma Foundation, The Colorado Haiti Project, Edeyo Foundation, Global Outreach and Love of Soccer (GOALS) Haiti, Hand in Hand for Haiti, Health 4 Haiti, The Holy Trinity Music School, International Medical Relief (IMR), J/P HRO, Project Medishare and Renewal 4 Haiti.
In March 2008, BoulderShares organized a mission in Soyapango, El Salvador with Airline Ambassadors International, American Airlines, Crocs™, Fresh Produce, One World Running and Wallaroo Hat Company. Representatives from each company attended the distribution of goods to the local population. The delegates were recognized individually by the First Lady, Doña Ana Ligia Mixco Sol de Saca.
A series of “art exchanges” was organized to connect students in Colorado with students in Haiti. Banners of artwork from Colorado elementary schools were created and displayed in medical and field hospitals following the 2010 earthquake. Artwork created by the patients in Haiti was brought back to Colorado.
In November of 2011, BoulderShares was invited to the Inter-American Development (IDB) and the Clinton Foundation’s "Invest in Haiti” forum held in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. We are now a proud member of the invitation-only Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).
BoulderShares has co-sponsored several fundraising events for various causes including The Global Compassion Ball held at the United Nations in 2008; The Carma Foundation’s Jingle Bell Ball and Gemini Giveback (bi-annually since 2009); Vinn Jwe, an annual soccer tournament hosted by GOALS Haiti; and Roots of Development’s "A Taste of Haiti: 4th Annual DC Fundraiser" with Whole Foods Market.
BoulderShares, in conjunction with experts in the field of Public Health, collaborated on an adolescent health card. This card will be introduced at various events and clinics throughout Haiti commencing in April 2012. We plan to combine further introduction of the health card with distribution of condoms provided to us by our new partner and Boulder-based company, Sir Richard's Condom Company.
We have collaborated closely with Crocs Cares℠, the corporate social responsibility division of Crocs, since 2007. Our teams have worked together in Haiti and El Salvador, as well as on several select shoe distributions in remote rural regions. We have hand delivered over 3,000 pairs to various organizations in Haiti.
BoulderShares visits several projects quarterly, at our own expense, bringing resources and funding to those with the greatest potential to improve the lives of women and children in the region. We work with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private donors and corporations.
